Life has been a little crazy lately…yes more than usual.
Between IPPW’s rapid growth, producing recent events such as the 2015 Motivation-A -Thon and A Day of Positivity, working on upcoming projects including the Network Palooza and my once-a-year Women’s Weekend Retreat, this one themed: The Woman in the Mirror, well … no wonder I’m tired.
Did I mention… moving, selling most of our stuff, finishing off our new digs, a large cargo van converted into an RV (OK my husband is doing that – allow me to brag – he’s doing a phenomenal job.)? We’ve got a little over a month to get everything cleaned out, built and sold before the new buyers take over the property.
We hit the road November 15th for our one to two year adventure, exploring this beautiful country, speaking and building new IPPW chapters- Busy, busy, busy.
And, if that’s not enough, I am finishing up the rewrite of my book, Find Something Nice to Say. I’ve also been developing two new business/membership based programs, Think Like an Entrepreneur, and Prosperity Book Consulting (thank God I’m a collaborator and have wonderful team mates for these projects.)
I share this today, because even though I have a lot on my plate and stress is knocking at my door, I’m doing just fine, thank you. I am not getting caught up in the craziness of my current situation. I’m actually okay, waking up every day filled with joy and enthusiasm. I’m giddy with new possibilities and still make time to see friends. In other words…I’m happy.
There was a time in my life that happiness eluded me. But no more. I spent the first 30 years of my life watching other people be happy, wanting what they had and wondering how they got it. Now I have the key. My life is filled with happiness joy and satisfaction. This is no accident. I set the path of happiness in motion years ago with a navigation system conceived of pure love and positivity. It was what got me where I wanted to be and it can help you as well.
Life has never been easy for me, as a matter of fact; it’s been darn hard at times. Over the course of my life, awful things have happened, good friends have passed too quickly, illnesses, taking care of loved ones during their last days on earth, a messy divorce, a child who has cut me out of his life – you get the picture – and yet, for the past decade, I have been happy. Even though I have an occasional bad day here and there, I’m filled with an unshakeable happiness that seems to know no limits. No one or no problem can shake my positive attitude for long. My secret weapon? It’s simply my GPS.
I’ve been using this system for a long time now, and it never lets me down. It has a solar battery embedded into it and whenever it feels like it’s not working, I simply point it toward the Sun (or Heaven) and it re-charges. It feels good and it feels right. That has made the difference in my life.
Happiness. Who upon this earth doesn’t want to be happy? Can happiness be found through someone else or within a bank account? Can it be bought and sold, or is it just something we are born with?
Does self-empowerment play a role in our happiness? I think so. You see, when I realized and accepted my life was miserable because of the way I was thinking and acting, I had to acknowledge the feeling of powerlessness. I had to open my eyes.
That is when I developed my favorite gadget on my tool belt of life – a simple formula I call GPS. God – Positivity – Service. It’s part inner guidance and part personal choice as we all have a navigation system implanted (factory direct) into our DNA. It is our inner guidance organism and it is built into all models. It’s not a special feature for only the fancy sports car versions. No, no, no, it’s in every model. However, the thing that it does not come with is an owner’s manual on how to use it. Darn it.
For my own personal happiness, here is what I have come to know:
Connecting with my higher power has given me amazing clarity. Ah, what joy it feels to know that the Universe has a plan and all I’ve got to do is pay attention, listen to my heart and take action. Someone has my back. Just have to trust everything has a way of working out, and everything will be fine. Not always easy, yes I know.
I am a big dreamer. I have ideas on all sorts of things and have since I was a child. But people would discourage me and tell me my plans were foolish. I believed them (as any young person would), and the ideas stopped flowing. I listened to other people’s ideas, dreams and opinions, but nothing seemed to be happening for me. I actually hooked on to other people’s dreams and visions and helped them, while ignoring my own inner guidance.
I figured the Universe had abandoned me. Now, I see, when I was in my negative world, it shut down my creative self.
Ideas that come into my head are directly planted there by my HP. If I can dream it, I can achieve it.
I love this quote – God is a better Dreamer than I. I learned my imagination is no match to God’s will. I allow Him into the drivers seat and buckle my seat belt. When you let go and Let God, unbelievable things happen. I trust whatever the Universe tells me to do, can be done. My reward is the pure joy of creating along side God.
As a former Negaholic, I can attest to the power of positive thinking. A positive person is not necessarily someone who resembles Mary Sunshine or Pollyanna. A positive person is someone who sees the world as it truly is (the good, the bad and the ugly), but makes a conscious choice, to focus on what is good. The negative person I was would not see the world as it is. I could only see the bad, or what was wrong.
Negative people see problems, positive people see solutions. Negative people can never see their own flaws, only the flaws of others. They feel it is their duty to point out your defects so you can work on yourself. But in reality, everyone has flaws. They, the negaholics are simply looking in the mirror. By never acknowledging their own personal imperfections, they can never change them, and they continue on a negative spiral.
Look for the bad in everything and the bad will come to you – but look for the good and good will come your way as well. Positivity is the essential key ingredient for happiness.
Ask yourself how you can you be of service to the world. It doesn’t have to be something grand, simple things will do. Hold the door for someone; pick up trash on the street, pay for the person’s toll behind you. Little things count. If you are in a position to do more – go for it.
I wake up each morning, asking for my assignment from the Universe – how can I be of service today? “Please Universe, let me be an instrument of hope.” When I am given the opportunity to help others and I actually do something, the gift of happiness is mine.
What about you? Is happiness surrounding your life or are you still pursuing it? Do you feel empowered by the thought of your own personal GPS of Life, or does it feel like one more thing to do…and heck, nothing ever works anyway. Psst…you need it more then ever. Practice guiding your life with your personal GPS and you will not only lead a life of empowerment and happiness, you will be changing the world for the better. And that my friends, invites the truest happiness of all.
